The U.S. Department of Labor announced the availability of $12.7 million in Susan Harwood Training Grants on 1 July 2026. Administered by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the funding is intended to support training and education programs that help workers and employers identify and prevent workplace safety and health hazards.
According to the department, the grants focus on providing instructor-led training for small businesses, particularly in industries with high rates of injury, illness, and fatalities. The programs aim to educate workers on hazard awareness and their rights under the Occupational Safety and Health Act, while informing employers of their responsibilities.
Applicants may apply for funding under two categories: Targeted Topic Training, which requires conducting educational programs on OSHA-designated hazards, and Training and Educational Materials Development, which supports the creation of classroom-ready resources.
Eligible entities include non-profit organizations, employer associations, labor unions, Indian tribes, public and state higher education institutions, and OSHA-affiliated training and consultation programs.
Applications must be submitted via Grants.gov and the System of Award Management by 11:59 p.m. EDT on 31 July 2026.
