Safe Work Australia has published a new model Code of Practice for managing the risks of respirable crystalline silica in the workplace.
According to the agency, the code provides practical information for persons conducting a business or undertaking to comply with work health and safety regulations. Sections address work health and safety duties, risk identification and management, additional requirements for high-risk processing, control measure maintenance, and the code's application to engineered stone.
The model Code of Practice must be approved by individual jurisdictions to have legal effect.
