Overview: The National Return to Work Strategy 2020-2030

The National Return to Work Strategy 2020-2030 is a 10-year national plan designed to improve return-to-work outcomes for employees recovering from work-related injuries or illnesses. The strategy was first launched in January of 2020, endorsed by health and safety ministers.

Research shows that helping injured workers return or stay at work during recovery is complex and differs among workplaces. The Strategy provides a framework for collaboration, research, insight sharing, and for targeting areas with the greatest potential for positive outcomes.

Mid-Term Review of the Strategy

Approaching the half-way mark, Safe Work Australia is conducting a mid-term review to evaluate impact on national action, progress on outcomes, challenges, and effectiveness of performance indicators.
