Understanding Scaffolding Safety Essentials
Scaffolding is a common tool in construction, maintenance, and infrastructure projects but comes with significant risks if not used correctly. This module provides the knowledge needed to safely work with scaffolds, focusing on hazard identification, compliance, and safe practices.
By the end of this module, you will be able to understand:
- Identify different types of scaffolding and when to use them.
- Understand safe access, egress, and the importance of competent supervision.
- Assess ground conditions and ensure stability through proper setup and maintenance.
- Follow load capacity requirements and prevent overloading.
- Manage tools and materials to prevent falling object incidents.
- Recognise common hazards such as electrical risks, damaged components, and environmental factors.
- Apply safe practices to prevent accidents and comply with Australian WHS laws

- Work Health and Safety Regulations 2011, Part 6.3 – Covers scaffolding requirements, including erection, use, inspection, and dismantling.
