Understanding the Right of Entry is essential for maintaining both workplace safety and compliance.This module explains when and how union officials or WHS entry permit holders can lawfully enter a workplace, what documentation they must present, and the responsibilities of employers, managers, and employees during these visits.

You’ll learn how to verify permits and notices, manage entry calmly and professionally, and ensure your workplace remains safe and compliant under Australian law.

By the end of this module, learners will be able to:

• Explain what Right of Entry means and why it exists.
• Identify the two key laws that govern Right of Entry in Australia.
• Recognise the features of a valid entry permit and written notice.
• Outline the correct procedures for officials entering a workplace.
• Describe the roles and responsibilities of employers, employees, union officials, and HSRs.
• Respond appropriately and lawfully if an official does not follow the correct process.
