Workplace aggression can happen in any industry, and it’s important we know how to stay safe, calm situations early and resolve issues in a respectful way.
By the end of this module, learners will be able to understand:

- How to recognise early warning signs
- Practical de-escalation techniques
- Steps for resolving conflict
- Your responsibilities under Australian WHS laws
Relevant Australian Legislation:
Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act 2011
- Requires employers (PCBUs) to provide a work environment that is safe and without risks to health, so far as is reasonably practicable, including risks from occupational violence and aggression.
- Work Health and Safety (WHS) Regulations 2011
Requires workplaces to identify hazards, assess risks and implement control measures, including psychosocial hazards such as aggression, threats and violence.
- Psychosocial Hazards Regulations
Recognise occupational violence as a psychosocial hazard that must be managed through risk assessment, controls, training and review.
- Duty of Care Obligations
Workers must take reasonable care for their own health and safety and that of others, and follow reasonable instructions and workplace procedures.
- Incident Notification Requirements
Serious incidents involving injury, immediate danger or risk of serious harm may need to be reported to the relevant WHS regulator.
