This module teaches employees the importance of reporting all workplace incidents—including accidents and near misses—to support a safe work environment. It covers what qualifies as an incident, how to respond immediately, what details to include in an incident report, and what to expect during an investigation. The focus is on early reporting, accurate documentation, and preventing future incidents through proper follow-up.
By the end of this module, you will be able to understand:
- Your obligations as an employee for reporting incidents
- What you should do immediately after an incident occurs.
Relevant Australian Legislation:
- Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Cth) – Requires that incidents are reported and investigated to manage workplace risks.
- WHS Regulations 2011 (Cth) – Specifies the requirement for reporting notifiable incidents and preserving incident sites.
- Model Code of Practice: Work Health and Safety Consultation, Cooperation and Coordination
