Understanding Advanced Environmental Management

This Advanced Environmental Management module is designed to build your understanding of environmental responsibilities in the workplace and how to manage environmental risks effectively. You’ll explore how environmental impacts can arise from everyday operations, how to identify and control these risks, and how to meet your legal and organisational obligations.

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

• Understand key environmental risks and impacts in the workplace
• Identify environmental hazards and assess associated risks
• Apply control measures to minimise environmental harm
• Understand your responsibilities under Australian environmental legislation
• Respond appropriately to environmental incidents and reporting requirements

Relevant Australian Legislation:

• Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (Cth)
• State/Territory Environment Protection Acts (e.g. Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 (NSW))
• Environment Protection Regulations (State/Territory specific)
• Work Health and Safety Act and Regulations (environmental duties linked to workplace activities)
